Manganese nitride is synthesized from metallic manganese powder. Manganese nitride is a process in which nitrogen elements are infiltrated into manganese products from forged and pressed manganese products after pretreatment at high temperature. This product is used in the smelting of special steel or stainless steel to give steel excellent properties, such as high strength, high creep pressure resistance and good corrosion resistance. Manganese nitride is suitable for iron manganese nitride and manganese metal nitride as additives of nitrogen and manganese in steelmaking and casting. In order to make full use of the characteristics of high nitrogen content and low impurity content of manganese nitride, promote the steel industry, especially the stainless steel industry towards the direction of nitrogen, manganese instead of nickel.

The purpose of ferromanganese nitride is to use ferromanganese nitride as an alloy additive of nitrogen and manganese is mainly used in the production of high strength steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and automobile, shipbuilding, aviation industry materials. The content of manganese in ordinary carbon steel is about 0.3% ~ 0.8%. Excessive content will make the steel brittle and hard, and reduce the rust resistance and weldability of the steel.

Nitrogen energy is partly used in iron, which has the effect of solid solution strengthening and improving hardenability. Manganese metal nitride can replace some nickel and thus reduce costs.

Manganese is a weak deoxidizer. Appropriate amount of manganese can effectively improve the strength of steel, remove the influence of sulfur and oxygen on the thermal brittleness of steel, improve the thermal workability of steel, and improve the tendency of cold brittleness of steel, while not significantly reduce the plasticity and impact toughness of steel.

Due to the precipitation of nitride on grain boundary, the high temperature strength of grain boundary can be improved and the creep strength of steel can be increased. With other elements in steel, precipitation hardening effect of steel surface nitriding, not only increase its hardness and wear resistance, but also significantly improve corrosion resistance.
